MDP | Choreographer’s Institute
MDP | Choreographer’s Institute is an annual dance lab platform for BIPOC and queer choreographers to workshop, experiment, collaborate, and play in the studio with the talented and dynamic company artists of McKoy Dance Project || MDP. MDP provides Institute choreographers with everything they need from MDP dancers, a small stipend, studio space, mentorship, and a small live studio showing during a one-week residency.
“So many BIPOC and queer choreographers are building brilliant work without the institutional resources to sustain it,” says McKoy. “The Choreographer’s Institute is our answer—offering space, mentorship, and support that’s rooted in advocacy and care.”
Derick McKoy, Jr., Founding Artistic Director & CEO
2025 Residency Dates: May 5th – 10th, 2025
