Premiere of MDP’s Feature Film, “These Stars Are Something Heavy“

“Hush” premieres as part of the Nimbus Arts Festival at the completion of a five-week residency

MDP performs “Hush” on Juneteenth at the Jamaica Dance Festival

MDP presents their first New Visions concert to a nearly sold out house with eight company dancers, and four exciting ballets including three world premieres

MDP presents their New Visions concert for a second time with 4 world premieres, including two new works by Executive Artistic Director Derick McKoy, Jr, and works by Ashley Kaylynn Green (Alvin Ailey), and Gianna Theodore (A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham).
February 8-29th, 2024
MDP + YOU launches Black Dance Series. Throughout the month of February (Black History Month), McKoy Dance Project celebrates and shares the rich history of Black traditions in dance. Providing free public classes centered around dance styles that are rooted in Black History, MDP provides an overview of Black Dance and fosters discussion around the legacy and lineage from a few dance techniques practiced widely today. This program increases access to dance for the community while also educating on the influence of Black Dance. Classes were in Jazz, Tap, Sabar West African, and House.
March 29th, 2024
MDP partners with Art Transforms, Inc to present “Watch me Rise: I Am Woman”, an evening of Jazz and Dance.
August 11th, 2024
MDP performs Battery Dance Festival for the first time at Rockefeller Park in NYC. Dancer Aanyse Pettiford-Chandler debuts “Love, Nina” on the BDF stage.
October 12-13th, 2024
MDP launches the Collective Voices Dance Festival and present Alegría and SKETCHED, two new world premieres by Executive Artistic Director Derick McKoy, Jr. Five choreographers joined MDP in the festival and presented their works.
February 22nd, 2025
MDP premieres “Love, Nina”: The Dance Film during a mini performance in New York City. The film is received extremely well by the audience and the dancers are praised for their beauty during the excerpts of MDP repertoire.
May 5-11th, 2025
MDP launches the Choreographer’s Institute with two emerging choreographers: Valkyrie Yao and Austin Warren Coats. After a week of exploration, the company performs these works-in-process during a showing at Mark Morris Dance Center.
